Our learning
SEND approach
At the Hawthorn Small School we offer specialist pastoral and academic support in a welcoming and friendly setting.
Our small class sizes range from 8-12 children to ensure a personalised education. Each class has a full time learning support facilitator who works alongside specialist teachers to ensure that all children have the opportunities and individualised support to ensure that they are able to engage and thrive. Every member of staff knows every student, and all the students know each other, which creates a genuine, tolerant and wonderfully supportive environment
Whilst we recognise that many families who have neurodivergent children may not have universally positive and respectful experiences of mainstream education, at HSS we work collaboratively with families and are committed to providing a nurturing and welcoming environment that supports the entire family.
All staff are highly skilled and are themselves life-long learners and active participants in their professional development in this ever-evolving field.
Alongside this we are also able to offer support from psychology and intervention services and ensure that Education, Health and Care Plan targets are achieved.
At the Hawthorn Small School, your child will join a unique learning community, in which everyone feels safe, cared for, challenged, and inspired.
